Scenic Review I (WTC), 1997

Two photographs, each taken from one roof of the former World Trade Center towers on the afternoon of December 27th 1997. The view is across the south bay to Staten Island, Verrazzano Bridge and further on to the sea.
C-Prints, 30cm x 40cm each, presented in two 70ies silver frames, hanging next to each other with 5 inch distance.

The original 1997 concept of creating a double portrait of the observer's position by splitting up his vision in two (according to the two towers), gets now after 9/11 psychologically charged with a delicate historical burden. As this view doesn't exist anymore, the pictures not only evoke the imagination and memory of the contemporary viewer in multifarious ways but display a structural "vanishing point" where past, point of view, and vision merge.
